Angel Biscuits

Another tried and true recipe from my youth. These biscuits are fabulous. I also use this recipe in my Biscuit-topped Chicken Pie recipe. I personally like these biscuits for breakfast with butter and grape jam. YUM!

Angel Biscuits:

2 ½ cups flour
2 tbsp sugar
2 tsp baking powder
¾ tsp salt
½ cup shortening
1 cup milk
1 tbsp yeast dissolved in ¼ cup warm water

Grease pan. Combine dry ingredients in large bowl. Add shortening and cut in until mixture is crumbly. In separate bowl whisk together milk & yeast. Pour over dry ingredients. Roll dough into ball and knead on floured surface 20-25 times. Pat into ½ inch thickness and cut until mixed well. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until browned. Oven 400 degrees.
