My
good friend, Aleese, shared this recipe with me last year. This was my first
time making it. So delicious!
Almond
Danish Bars:
1st
dough:
1 cup
flour
1 stick
butter
Cut
together like a pie crust, add 2 tbsp of water. Mix with a fork. Form dough
into 2 flattened strips about 3 inches wide and spread on cookie sheet.
2nd
dough:
1
stick of butter
1tsp
almond extract
1 cup
water
1 cup
flour
3
eggs
Bring
water and butter to a boil. Add almond and all of flour. Remove from heat and
stir to make a smooth, thick, ball. Add eggs one at a time, stirring well after
each addition. Divide equally on 2 strips of dough already on the pan. Bake 45
mins. @ 350. Until puffy and brown. Remove from oven. The top will sink some as
it cools. Frost when cool.
Frosting:
2
cups powdered sugar
1/4
tsp salt
1/3 c
soft butter
1 tsp
almond extract
2 tbsp milk
Green food coloring
Beat
until smooth. Cut into slices.
